New Subsea Technology signs contract with Aker BP to deliver the Integrated Drilling System (IDS by NST)
NST has signed a contract with Aker BP to deliver an Integrated Drilling System (IDS by NST) for exploration drilling. The system will be delivered in 2018. NST will be responsible for technology development, delivery and integration of the total system as well as responsible for delivery of key components of the system.
The IDS by NST simplifies and improves the well foundation and integrity of the well and is designed to handle any applicable loads on subsea wells during operations and emergency situations. “NST believes that the system provides a significant improvement to the business challenges around wellhead fatigue and stresses, improving well integrity. The system also simplifies well construction activities and well abandonment for the operator, resulting in reduced time and cost”, says Bjørn Schmidt, COO of NST.
“IDS by NST represents the exploration well version of our integrated drilling and production system (IDPS by NST) and will be our first pilot towards development of our main product”, according to Sigbjørn Madsen, CTO of NST.
